the replacement adapter i ordered works.br /but the cord is two feet shorter than the original that came with my dell.br /so when i use my laptop while plugged in on any standard desk or table, the heavy adapter hangs mid-air from my laptop; instead of resting on the floor like my last charger. like i said, "it works, but it sucks."

Well, I guess I've learned my lesson (again). It usually doesn't pay to cheap out and buy the imitation. This power adapter fits in the port in my Latitude laptop, but does not reliably charge the battery. And, to top it off, when I use the computer while it's plugged in, it randomly shuts off!!! I considered returning the adapter, but haven't because the cost of shipping turns out to be more than I originally paid for the item. Well, at least this was a relatively inexpensive lesson to learn. I would never recommend this product to anyone.
